This is the week when we build our porch, or as some folks are calling it, the new front porch forum! To keep you in the loop, here’s the schedule:

Wednesday: The porch piers will be dropped off.

Thursday: The steps and ramp will be removed and the porch piers installed. Library will be open but entry will be on the side.

Friday: Any remaining initial installation work will be completed. Some folks may be building frames. Library will be open but entry will be on the side.

Saturday: Coffee and donuts will be available beginning at 7:30am. We will begin to build at 8:00. Library closed.

Sunday: Coffee and donuts will be available beginning at 7:30am. We will begin to build at 8:00. Library closed.

*** We have decided to make our porch roof similar to the design of the Bryan Gallery entrance (Greek Revival). Therefore, we will not work on the roof this weekend. This will be done later in the summer. We plan to complete everything else, however this weekend.

This truly is going to be the porch that our community built. We are that community and this is going to be a project that will be bragged about for years to come. Even if you are there for pouring lemonade or mopping brows or hauling boards or looking after little kids, we need you. This is so much more than building a porch. It’s all about building our community. Please come by for a little while or all day. We’d love your help and support!
