Virtual Author Talk: Ecological Memory

  • Varnum Memorial Library 194 Main Street Jeffersonville, VT 05464 United States (map)

Date: Wednesday, January 19th

Time: 5:30-6:30PM

Join us for a virtual author talk with Caroline Ailanthus, science-fiction writer and author of Ecological Memory. Caroline lives in Maryland, and she went to college in Vermont and summers working in the state for Green Mountain Club.

Her novel, Ecological Memory, is an example of “ecological fiction.” It’s likely to appeal to anyone who enjoyed Flight Behavior, by Barbara Kingsolver or Overstory, by Richard Powers. Although this book was written well before COVID-19 existed, it is set twenty years after a catastrophic pandemic and deals with recovery and resilience on personal, societal, and ecological levels. That makes it unexpectedly timely, perhaps a source of perspective and hope.

Stop into the Varnum to pick up a copy of Ecological Memory to read in advance, or check it out after our discussion!
